Homeopathy – does it work?

In 2009 Boots revealed that they didn’t believe homeopathy works. However, despite this revelation and continual studies which prove that homeopathy produces the same results achieved in placebo tests, the NHS still managed to spendover four million pounds in 2009creating homeopathic pills.

Shocked by the National Health Services and leading Pharmacies ‘no harm’ theories to homeopathy , more than three hundred activists are now planning to get involved in a huge homeopathic overdose to help increase awarenessabout the fact that homepathy is ineffectual.

During this protest which is set to occur on the 30th January 2010, all three hundred protestors will publicly swallow an entire bottle of homeopathic pills to show that they are nothing more than fakes and hopefully prompt pharmacies to stop selling them.

Where did homeopathy come from?

Described by many as ‘all natural herbal medicine’ many of the ingredients found within this commonly accepted complementary medicine are so dilute that there is nothing left to them.

However further background checks into the birth of homeopathy has revealed that there is nothing herbal about it, but that it is solely based on 3 central tenets discovered in the 1800’s by Samuel Hahnemann. 3 beliefs which are still utilised in the testing of homeopathic pills today:

The Law of Similars

where whatever caused your illness will also cure them i.e. unable to sleep, take caffeine

The Law of Infinitesimals :- where the more diluted the remedy is from fluids, the more potent it will be

The Law of Succession

where vigorous shaking of a homeopathic remedy would intensify its strength

Assessing this history, it is easily understandable why demonstraters are calling upon the government to command the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence to evaluate whether it is right for the NHS to fund homeopathy . Providing restricted if any results, all clinical trials have the same conclusion that they will not improve your immune system.
