The Health Information Management Program is full for Fall 2010. Applications for Fall 2011 will be accepted after October 1st, 2010. Health Information Management (HIM) professionals play a critical role in maintaining, collecting and analyzing the data that physicians, nurses and other health care providers rely on to deliver quality health care. As the experts in patient health data management, they work in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, government agencies and private industry. As emerging technologies work towards a fully electronic future, HIM professionals are needed to fill the growing work force. They will be called on to improve efficiency in health care facilities by optimizing efficiency in billing and improving electronic data integrity through quality management. With estimated projections in employment expected to grow faster than average, this is a rapidly expanding profession in an exciting area of health care.
PCC Health Information Management student At PCC, our Health Information Management program provides you with the fundamental skills necessary to begin a career in health information management. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), in cooperation with the Council on Accreditation of the American Health Information Management Association.
The college's HIM program is delivered via Distance Education using Blackboard Learning System. This method of online education provides students with an independent learning environment and the ability to take classes off campus. Students can receive weekly lessons, complete assignments and communicate in a virtual classroom setting. Taking courses through distance education can allow more schedule flexibility, reduces the time you spend commuting and brings college right to your fingertips. Degrees and Certificates
In this program you can earn the following: Associate of Applied Science Degree

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certification examination given through the American Health Information Management Association, allowing you to become a professionally recognized RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician).
