There is currently a generic Flonase product available on the market called Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray. It is manufactured by Roxane Laboratories and is considered to be equivalent to the brand-name version. It is expected that other drug companies will also produce a generic version of Flonase in the future.

Flonase® (fluticasone propionate nasal spray) is a prescription nasal spray used to treat nasal allergies (known medically as allergic rhinitis), as well as nasal symptoms that are not caused by allergies (known as non-allergic rhinitis). It belongs to a group of medications known as corticosteroids (or simply "steroids" for short). Flonase is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Generic Flonase is sold under the name Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray and contains 120 sprays in each bottle, with 50 mcg of fluticasone propionate in each spray. Who Makes Generic Flonase? --------------------------
Generic Flonase is currently made by Roxane Laboratories. In the future, it is likely that many more companies will also make a generic version of this drug. Is Generic Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray as Good as Flonase? -----------------------------------------------------------------
All generic medications must undergo certain tests to compare them to brand-name medications. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) then looks at these tests to decide if the generics are equivalent to the brand-name medications and assigns each generic a rating. An "AB" rating means that the FDA has determined that a generic medication is equivalent to a brand-name medication. Generic fluticasone propionate nasal spray has an "AB" rating, meaning it should be equivalent to Flonase. However, generic medications are allowed to have different inactive ingredients than the brand-name medication. This might include fillers or dyes or other ingredients that may cause problems for people with allergies or sensitivities. Advertisement
