Augmentin Mechanism: How does Augmentin work?
Amoxicillin blocks the formation of bacterial cell walls, rendering bacteria unable to multiply and spread. The bacteria therefore break up and die. Clavulanate enhances the effectiveness of amoxicillin by inhibiting the activity of a specific enzyme (beta-lactamase) produced by certain drug-resistant strains of bacteria. Top
Augmentin Dosage: How should you take Augmentin
Generic Augmentin Dosages will be determined by the type of infection being treated. ADULTS: Ear, Nose, Throat, Skin, Genital, and Urinary Tract Infections: The usual Generic Augmentin Dosage is 250 milligrams, taken every 8 hours.
Infections of the Lower Respiratory Tract: The usual Generic Augmentin Dosage is 500 milligrams, taken every 8 hours. Gonorrhea: The usual Generic Augmentin Dosage is 3 grams in a single oral dose.
