AstraZeneca has sued nine companies over Crestor generic, reports CNBC-TV18. It has sued Aurobindo Pharma, Glenmark, and Sun Pharma among Indian companies. The Crestor generic patent expires in 2018 and 2022. In 2009, the company's Crestor sales stood at USD 2.1 billion. Aurobindo Pharma has Para IV first-to-file on the Crestor generic.
The drug is used for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and cholesterol. AstraZeneca’s website said the drug was initially developed by the Japanese pharmaceutical company Shionogi and in-licensed to the company in April 1998. RELATED NEWS
