New Book: Generic Pharmaceutical Patent and FDA Law by Shashank
Upadhye

It gives me great pleasure to write a post on the latest edition
2010 of Shashank Upadhye's great book - "Generic Pharmaceutical
Patent and FDA Law". For those of you who do not know about Shashank,
apart from writing this great book, he is actually a full time IP/ law
professional in the generic industry- he heads the global IP function
at Apotex.
Details regarding Shashank are available here.
This book is an updated edition of the earlier book I am currently
reading the 2009 version. His writing style is very lucid and he
gives great examples almost always from the pharmaceutical patents
for an easier understanding. The beauty of the book is that it starts
right from the drug approval process and goes on to complex aspects
like generic ANDA litigation, issues involved in patent challenges
and has excellent notes/ summaries of relevant US cases. One of the
main highlights of the 2010 edition is a completely new/ re-written
chapter on Exclusivity Forfeiture.

I completely recommend this book for any IP law/ regulatory law
professional whose work involves understanding and advising on aspects
of US drug patent/ FDA law.
Additional details on this book are available here on the Thomson West
site. Posted by GenericIPguy at 10:01 AM Labels: book, generic, US
