Vaccine Reverses Type 1 Diabetes
Canadian researchers have successfully reversed type 1 diabetes
in mice using a new vaccine technology that appears to solely
target the immune system cells responsible for the disease. "We
don't yet know if it will work in humans, but we're very excited
and think this offers hope," said study author Dr. Pere
      Santamaria. Read more.
Child Obesity Soaring in Rural U.S.
Using one Louisiana (LA) town as a case study, scientists are
starting to pinpoint a significant divide between childhood
obesity rates in city and town. In the past 35 years, the
percentage of overweight or obese children in Bogalusa, LA more
than tripled. Bigger picture studies show that 16.9% of American
children nationwide are obese. Learn more about the report.

Do 3-D Movies Make You Sick?
You're not alone; 3-D can play tricks on your brain, mimicking
symptoms of motion sickness. When you go to a realistic 3-D
movie, says expert Dr. Robert Wiprud, your eyes could be telling
you that you're flying through the air while your body is
saying, 'No, we're just sitting here.' It gives you a false
sense of movement which can lead to nausea and headache. Read
      more.
Simple Test Detects Early Alzheimer's
A researcher has developed a brief memory test to help doctors
determine whether someone is suffering from the early memory and
reasoning problems that often signal Alzheimer's disease. The
test has been shown to catch about 80% of the cases of mild
      cognitive decline. Read on.
