Question
I have read that it is not advisable to dirk or eat grapefruit
products if you take Lipitor as it increases the level of the drug in
your blood and thus can be fatal.

I take 5Mg of Lipitor (1/2 of a 10Mg tablet)every other day (I take it
on odd days). My Cholesterol is consistent at 160. I eat grapefruit
only on weekends so on  only one Saturday or Sunday each week will I
have it with the Lipitor.

Just how much of a risk is that?

Answer
Hi Mike,
Grapefruit and its juice increases the blood level of some drugs
including lipitor. At your dose level it is not likely to cause any
side effects. Mainly the side effect of lipitor on muscles and liver
may be increased. Other than that there is no risk.
