Book Reviews, Notes, and Listings USP DI. Seventh edition. Volume I. Drug Information for the Health Care Provider. ==================================================================
1956 pages. Volume II. Advice for the Patient: Drug Information in Lay Language. 1202 pages. United States Pharmacopeial Convention, Inc., Rockville, Maryland, 1987. $79.95. Excerpt -------
An authoritative, detailed compendium of articles on specific drugs and classes of drugs. Each article covers trade names, indications, chemistry, pharmacology, precautions in drug use, side-adverse effects, advice to patients, general dosing information, dosage forms. Appendixes on some specific problems. More detail on specific drugs than the ANA's Drug Evaluations but does not offer its comparative assessments; clearly superior to Physicians' Desk Reference, as a reference work. Advice to the patient can be usefully supplemented with copies of the relevant pages from Advice for the Patient, issued concurrently. This 100-word excerpt has been provided in the absence of an abstract.
