Shelf Life? Here is the story. =============================== There is a time period during which the capsules or tablets will not change in color at all -- probably 6 months. Then, the cysteine in Life Glow Plus, or Super Life Glow, can start to oxidize and you'll see brown specks in the capsule, and perhaps smell a strong garlic smell. There is no reduction in benefit at this point, and it is completely safe to take. Then, the next thing is that "shelf life" relates to the amount of time before which the label guarantee is still good. After that date the product is still safe and effective, but the contents would have been reduced somewhat. Different vitamins lose potency at different rates. So, if the label shows 3,000 mg of Vitamin C, and if 20% of the Vitamin C is gone after 18 months, then the ACTUAL quantity of Vitamin C put into the formula is enough so that 80% of it would still be 3,000 mg after 18 months.
In other words, you PUT IN 3,800 mg of Vitamin C, and 18 months later there is 80% of that amount, or 3,040 mg of Vitamin C. When you FIRST take this Vitamin C, fresh out of the laboratory, you are actually getting MORE Vitamin C than the label shows. After 24 months you would see an actual reduction in the contents of various ingredients, based on age. Some ingredients lose value at different rates -- the labs have all this data and it is the laboratory where the product is made that determines what it takes to give an overall "shelf life" of 18 months, or whatever they guarantee. Generally the product never becomes unsafe. So, your Life Glow Plus or Super Life Glow capsules would be fine to take -- even if brown specks appear. If you want to be a bit more conservative, take a few more than 20 capsules. Karl
